Social Media in Science Communication

Target Group: Doctoral Researchers, postdoctoral researchers, professors
 
 
In cooperation with the staff unit Communications and Marketing.
 
The digital media landscape offers researchers new opportunities to actively participate in public debates and strategically position their research topics. Social networks and blogs are ideal channels for this purpose – if used with the right strategy.
 
This interactive workshop provides practical guidance on how to use social media effectively, on the rules that govern digital communication and on how to build a professional online presence.
 
Through hands-on exercises, participants will gain valuable insight on how to communicate scientific content effectively across different social media platforms. Depending on participants’ interests and expectations, particular emphasis can be placed on specific platforms.

- Tips and tricks for successful online communication
 
Please note the following organizational and technical information:
- At the end of the first day, participants will receive an assignment to complete at home before the following day. Please plan for approximately one hour to complete the assignment.
- A certificate of participation will be issued upon full attendance.
- The training will be conducted using the Zoom video-conferencing platform.
- Practical exercises will be carried out using Google Office applications (e.g., Google Docs and Google Forms). These tools are provided through Google G-Suite for organizations, and participants do not need their own Google account.
- To participate in the interactive workshop, participants must have access to a computer or laptop equipped with a functioning microphone and camera. Participants are required to keep both their camera and microphone enabled during the workshop.
 
The course counts towards the Certificate "Leadership, Management, Science Communication and Knowledge Transfer" (Module III or IV, 8 AE).
