This session is offered in the context of the European Doctoral Day and is open to participants from YERUN, bringing together early-career researchers and prospective doctoral candidates from across Europe.
 
Focus:
Pursuing a PhD is a strategic career decision rather than a purely academic step. This session provides a concise, realistic overview of:
  • - Career implications of doing a PhD in Germany
  • - Transferable skills and employability within and beyond academia
  • - Typical career paths (academic and non-academic)
  • - Structural features of the German doctoral system relevant for career development

Objective:
  • - Enable informed career decisions by clarifying expectations, risks, and opportunities associated with the PhD phase.
